 The Covid-19 pandemic has added a challenge to our team, aside from the multiple issues of youth neglect in the villages, low income, climate change and decimation of our biodiversity. Thanks to our local and on-line supporters, we continue to provide much-needed services to our target areas in Leyte province and in Misamis Oriental. This start of 2021 we are gearing for more projects and opportunities ahead. Mabuhay!

 Wishing all of you a Happy New Year. We are indeed proud that our award-winning food security and ecological sanitation initiative is still going strong...

We are local youths in Mindanao, the Philippines who try to provide solution to health, sanitation, poverty and soil fertility problems faced by our families by promoting simple urine diverting, dehydration technologies and the use of human waste via vermi-composting to produce high-grade organic fertilizer and use it in gardening and agro-forestry among our members thereby closing the loop between consumption and food production, contain spread of diseases, improve biodiversity and incomes and minimize water contamination and improve the overall well-being of our families who belong to the bottom poor and earning less than a dollar a day.

 Revisiting our goals.

Our goal is to empower the local youths, give them hope and roots in the barrios where they are living by making the barrios productive, vibrant and a repository of local knowledge at the same time improving the local biodiversity by nurturing the land in a low-external input system (as opposed to high-chemical agriculture) and incorporating crop-trees-animals in a nutrient-cycle, sustainable manner.  The ALEY-NM is a winner of the 2010 Ten Accomplished Youth Organization in the Philippines and an awardee of the “Saka” award by the Department of Agriculture. We have successfully implemented projects supported by the Japan Water Forum, AsiaDhraa, US Embassy and the UH-Habitat.

 So much have happened since I last posted in our site.

The following are our breakthroughs ever since;

a. We were able to sustain and expand our programs initially from our base in Libertad, Misamis Oriental to Dipolog City and Ormoc City.

b. We were very active in delivering disaster recovery initiatives specifically during Typhoon Haiyan and the Taal volcano eruption.

c. Our main support comes from the Global Giving on-line platform and local donors.

 Hello Friends, allow me to update our blog. Thank you very much.
